2026 Honduras Mission Trip Day 2
July 17, 2026 | Melodie Thibault
Hola from Honduras! Our second day here started off with breakfast and an encouraging devotional from Lee. He read from James 2:14-16 which reads “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them ‘go in peace, keep warm and well fed’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way faith by itself, if not accompanied by action is dead.” Jesus has called us into a purpose, to get outside of our comfort zone and help those in need, which is what we are doing in Honduras, and giving God all of the glory for it.
When breakfast was finished, we hopped onto the bus to visit at Pastor Arqui and Minda’s church, as well as a food distribution. We had our second dance competition and puppet show for the kids, (which is the absolute best arm workout). We heard a couple testimonies from some of the team, which is always a faith builder. Our time at the church was finished off with the famous hug line, which has been my personal favorite part of the trip. Every single person we have met is so grateful and full of joy. Thank Jesus.
We ate a quick lunch and it was time to head back onto the bus for a home visit in one of the villages. Lizzeth welcomed us into her home with her 2 children. She shared that her husband left with her middle child, and has been in the United States for 2 years and she has not heard from him and does not know where they are. Her dream is to have enough money for her house to be built. She loves God, serves in the church and is willing to help with whatever they need. We got to pray with her and encourage her, and are continuing to pray that the Lord would bless her family and be her provider.
We then headed to the Pastor Nelson’s village for our work projects. Over the next couple of days, we’ll be painting the new homes of Maria and Suypa, which the Vineyard has been helping build over the past two years. We also began construction on a new home for Jorge and Iris, another couple in the village. Throughout the day, our team mixed cement, carried rocks, and poured the foundation for their future home.
We ended the day with a surprise anniversary celebration for Josh and Amy as they celebrated 29 years of marriage! We enjoyed a mariachi band, danced together, and shared cake before wrapping up the evening with dinner and a team debrief. It was an incredible day, and we’re excited to see what the Lord has in store for us tomorrow!
