Voices

We are influenced by the voices around us. These could be people we interact with daily, friends, family, co-workers, or acquaintances. Other voices that influence us include any type of media, television, print, radio, social media, etc. What about the voices in your head that are telling you to do something or not do something, again influencing each of us? The more frequently we hear these voices, the more in-tune we are with them and can easily be led astray. In 1 Corinthians 12:2, the Word says, “You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray … ” These powerful words were telling the people to keep their focus on God. It also sounds like God was reminding them of how easily they were led astray, when they were not following God.
Building a relationship with God and hearing His voice in our lives, requires that we spend time with him. Psalms 29:4 shows us that the voice of the Lord is powerful, the voice of the Lord is majestic. Then in Job 37:5 the Word says that God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; He does great things beyond our understanding. We need to hear what God has to say to us personally and more frequently than all the other voices in our lives.
Pick up a journal and find a quiet place to have a conversation with God, write down what you hear God saying to you. Ask God questions and wait for the answer. Pour out your heart and build that intimate relationship with God, that when He speaks, you clearly recognize his voice. God does great things beyond our understanding, so spend more time talking to Him and getting to know Him personally. Watch as God moves in you, around you and through you to reach others.
