Uganda Mission Trip Day 1

September 12, 2025

Greetings from Uganda!

The team started the day welcomed to a wonderful breakfast followed by a tour of the mission house and property. The mission house is our host Jumba's house- the founder of Hope for Joy. Next our group traveled to see the Hope For Joy children at the Nkumba Christian Primary School. We were warmly greeted by Pastor John and his wife Esther. After getting to know more about the vision for the school and meeting Michael the headmaster, we were treated to a tour of the school as well as meeting the staff. The Hope for Joy children preformed a series of dance routines and skits to welcome the team. One of the highlights for the team was to hear two people from the church share their testimony after the dances and skit were complete.

Following lunch, the women on the team attended a community Women’s Fellowship meeting where Esther and Candace provided words of encouragement. As a special treat, all the members of the Women’s Fellowship came together to teach the team how to cook a typical meal in Uganda (which was amazing). Meanwhile, Jumba took the male team members to run errands, do a hospital visit, and learn a few phrases in Luganda (the native language of Uganda).

Finally, the team returned home for a hearty dinner. We talked about the events of the day and worshiped the Lord with song. As a bonus, the team and young adults at the mission house put together gifts to hand out tomorrow during home visits to the community. It was simply amazing to see and hear how faithful the Lord has been to our brothers and sisters in Uganda. Please continue to keep the team and Hope for Joy in your prayers.

Blessings,
Candace & the Team
