Uganda January 2018 Update #6
January 21, 2018
Greetings from the Uganda Missions Trip team. There is much to be said about the benefit of living in God’s favor. It is clear that God’s favor has been on this team. With a smooth trip to Arua, surprisingly-improved roads to the camp and no major health issues, we have been physically strong. God has given us a strong support from each other as well as from the Holy Spirit. Each team member has thought of something that will be different in their lives as a result of this trip. On our own, none of this would have been possible!
With a great response at Art for the Heart of Africa, projects are moving at Dreamland. The tukels for Pastor Stanley and the leaders, Tom and Martin, are almost complete. A new dorm is in the beginning stages of being built. Another one will follow. There are new bathrooms going in, to better accommodate the roughly 140 people that use them. Thirty-three older children are preparing to go back to secondary school (similar to high school) at the end of the month. This requires tuition and more supplies. It is because of God’s favor upon the attendees and those connected with Art for the Heart of Africa that funding is available for these things.
During the week, there were many conversations between team members and children. It was clear, based upon those conversations, that there is a strong amount of faith within the Dreamland family. It’s also evident that there has been much healing from the many things these little ones have gone through. Again, it is only through God’s favor and grace.
Finally, by having opportunities to go on missions trips, having opportunities to participate in church services at a wonderful church, and having luxuries like clean drinking water, we have a large amount of God’s favor in our lives, as Americans.
So, what will we do? What is the next step because of all of this favor we have seen? If you have connected well with this trip, I hope you will join us in our next step to live our lives completely for God because of this favor. That can happen near home or it may be helpful to go on one of the planned trips coming up. Click here for more details on those. I also hope that we think twice before taking for granted the many things we have. I hope that when we plan our budgets for the year, we consider the least of these.
As we wrap up our time together, we will process what God has done through our travel. Today, the team was able to go into Entebbe and “re-enter” our culture through a great meal (and shakes) at Café Javas. We did some shopping at local markets to bring back things for our families… I just got some Novida, my favorite soda from here. We plan to have breakfast together in Amsterdam and finish off our last leg of the journey. Although the journey of traveling is long and tiresome, God’s favor makes it easier. And we are thankful for it. Thank you all for your support as well.
