Uganda January 2018 Update #4

January 19, 2018

Kari Olser

Greetings from Uganda. This morning was nice and cool to go out in the garden at our hotel, at the break of day, and feel the indescribable peace and joy while spending time with my Lord. Nothing in this world is more important than spending intimate time thanking, praising and listening to God.

Today was a great day, even better than yesterday. Some construction men have been working hard on Pastor Stanley’s tukel (small house), and that should be done tomorrow. Two others tukels should be finished next week. Thank you, God!

CarolAnn got closer to the older girls. I was watching her as they were sitting by her. You could tell they respected her, trusted her, and liked being around her. Her kind heart also attracts the other kids. They love to play and sing with her. She and I got to lead a craft project with the children, making bookmarks, which the children loved.

Kenny gave, from his tender heart, his testimony today. I was also watching and saw the older boys and girls listening to him. You could see how much they respected him, and the boys have talked to him about many things. Lance led ministry time with the children following Kenny’s testimony. Many children responded and received prayer to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus.

Lance has been very busy making sure everything is taken care of. He has made us laugh and has been a great, caring leader. What I see, when the kids are around him, is that they adore him and think he’s funny; but most of all, they know that he loves God with all his heart and loves them very deeply.

As for me, I’ve been loving on the younger kids and playing with them. My heart turned to mush when one of the girls took my hand, looked in my eyes, and said sincerely, “We have been praying for you.” It’s once again indescribable, the love I felt for her and the love I felt for her. God is doing amazing things at this camp, and I am so blessed to see it first-hand. Today I also got close to the house moms and started friendships with them.

All I can say, at the end of this day, is that the kids and we have been so blessed by our mighty, loving, caring God. Tomorrow is the feast day with the children, and it will be wonderful to see them, but difficult as it will be our last time with them.
