The Process is Part of the Promise
January 11, 2019
The season that you are in might be the very thing that leads you to your greatest triumph.
Now read that again. God has not forgotten you, and He will never leave you. We are always in a season of change or waiting — that’s just a part of life. Change happens all the time, and it’s not always what we want.
While we are in that season of waiting or in the process leading to God’s plan for us, we can’t just sit around and wait. We can’t be stagnant in our lives just because we are waiting to hear the exact thing we want to from God. Maybe you are waiting for “Mr. Right” or for your next career move, but whatever it is, we can move God’s Kingdom forward while we are in seasons of a process.
In this season that you are in, take heart. Psalms 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” As we wait for the Lord, we can be strong and courageous. In the midst of your waiting, you can still bring glory to God.
Some tips if you’re in a season of waiting:
#1. Pray.
1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
When we are waiting for the next step or the plans that God has for us, the best thing we can do it pray. If you don’t know what to pray, read through the book of Psalms and pray the scriptures. So many times, the writers of the Psalms were waiting on God to save them or show them their next steps. The Psalms are their prayers and cries out to God, and some were written for us to understand we are not alone.
#2. Join.
1 John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”
Wherever you are at on your journey, there are people who are in a similar place. One of the best things you can do is find like-minded people who will help you walk in the light and believe in God’s promises for you. Maybe you should join a Vineyard Group, attend Young Adults or Vineyard Students, take a Vineyard FIT class, or just start coming to church for the first time in years. Wherever you are in life, a healthy community can help you!
#3. Give.
Proverbs 11:25, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom, and this verse tells us that if we are generous and help others, we ourselves will be refreshed. When you are in a season of waiting and trying to understand God’s plan, it is so easy to feel exhausted emotionally and physically. But according to Proverbs, to feel refreshed, we should help others! This could look different for everyone, and maybe for you, that’s paying for a stranger’s Starbucks order or shoveling your neighbor's driveway. It could also be serving on a team at The Vineyard Church by giving up your time to expand the Kingdom.
Wherever you are in life, know that God is ready to continue to use you. The season that you are in might be the very thing that leads you to your greatest triumph. Through this season, be intentional with your time, and continue to seek what the Father wants.
