Reach has Started!
August 4, 2015 | Pastor Steve Huffman
When I came on staff at the Vineyard I was motivated by the passion of the leadership and staff at The Vineyard to follow what God’s was doing. What I’ve come to realize is that that passion is infectious! Pursuing what God is doing at Vineyard and around the region is the motivation behind the REACH campaign and I’m excited to participate in it. Through each conversation with staff, Team Vineyard members or others in the community there is a general excitement in what is happening. As I consider the opportunity in front of us I can just barely see the potential for each and every person to engage in this incredible journey. It’s exciting to partner with such a group of believers who are passionately leaning into what God is preparing it does. It’s almost like God was just waiting for us to say “Yep – we’re in” … Looking forward to sharing the journey with you!
Below is a just a quick taste of what REACH is...
What is “REACH: Extending the Walls to Influence Our World”?
REACH was born out of a recurring dream of our Lead Pastor, Mark Pope, which underscored Jesus’ mission of saving lost people. What started as a dream to launch five church plants or campuses in five years has grown into a vision and a plan where we can already see God’s hand at work. Throughout REACH, it is our desire to not only extend the walls of the church but also to retain the spiritual vitality of our present Jackson Road Campus.
Who is Involved?
Because of the size of the vision, there are opportunities everywhere. Teams are being developed all around the REACH effort. Our new onsite video campus, the “South Door Campus”, will have its own team, and there will be new teams emerging around all our multi-campus efforts. Leadership development groups are being created as we grow new leaders to assist and lead in different areas of ministry. Throughout the REACH initiative, there will be opportunities for everyone to get involved.
Where are we going?
We are open to wherever God is prompting us to go. We know that our current Jackson Road facility needs to expand to make room for people who want to encounter God with us. We look forward to new adventures and areas to extend our walls to influence our world—these will likely be church plants and developing new campuses.
Why is it important?
Over the past 20 years, The Vineyard Church has made a remarkable impact in our community simply by sharing what God is doing. Each year we see lives changed and incredible ministry happening both within the walls and outside the walls of our campus. We continue to see God’s hand in the work before us, and our desire is to continue to make room for new believers to encounter God. We also want to share what God is doing at our Jackson Road campus and extend that to our region through church plants and additional campuses. One of the fastest and most effective ways for people to encounter Jesus is through new church plants or multi-campus efforts.
When is it happening?
It is happening now! We are making room on our Jackson Road campus by opening a new onsite video campus, called “South Door Campus”. The South Door Campus will open in October 2015, and very soon we will begin a three-year capital campaign to expand our existing Jackson Road campus to make more room and prepare for church plants and campuses. We believe that in 2016 we will see movement on all fronts.
