Kentucky Mission Trip | Day 2

November 15, 2024 | Phil Mark

Today we started our work as the hands and feet of Jesus in Kentucky. We were broken up into 2 groups, one went to a close by area where there was a lot of brush that needed clearing and other odds and ends such as painting and other things around the house, while the other group was installing railings for some homes in Dawson Springs, KY. There was so much brush that needed to be cleared! They had 3 days planned of this, but our team worked hard and got it cleared with little to finish up tomorrow.

The team that worked on railings went to an elderly man's house that was affected by the tornadoes a year ago. We replaced his railing on the front porch as it was not within code due to the tornado. This man is a Korean veteran and he lives at home with his 2 cats. While talking with him, he joked around and said that he named one cat "One" and the other cat "Too". He explained what happened with the tornado 1 year ago. His house was damaged a little bit, but his neighbor's house was completely destroyed so he felt very blessed. He also shared that when the tornadoes first came through 2-3 years ago, he built a protective house in the basement for his wife.  Definitely showed how much he loved her.  Unfortunately his wife has since passed, but he continues to seek Jesus and knows that he will see her again.

After our work day, we came back to where we were staying, had some supper, Jason shared his testimony, and he and Cal led us in worship. Lastly, we got to share our experiences with the group and even got to pray for the daughter of one of the WCN leaders.  Looking forward to what God what's in store for us tomorrow!

Remember, it's not about the tasks that are on your list, it's the people you cross paths with as you complete those tasks that matter
