India Mission Trip | Update 5
March 22, 2026 | Denise Pope
We all started our day a little groggy since we didn’t get to bed until 3 AM. Between late-night flights and delays, sleep was hard to come by. Welcome to the schedule of a mission trip.
Today began with a visit to Bethesda Christian Academy here in Delhi, where we were given a front-row seat to a Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony. It was actually quite impressive. One moment that really stood out to me was a message displayed on the screen: “The Truth Will Set You Free.” Throughout the ceremony, I found myself reflecting on how these children might not hear the truth of Jesus Christ without schools like this.
Isaiah 55:11 says:
“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
As I watched and listened to these young children sing songs about Jesus and recite Bible verses from memory, I was reminded to trust that this promise from Isaiah will come to pass.
Following the graduation, Connie and I had the privilege of spending time with Joyce, Pastor Abraham’s wife. She shared the story of how she helped develop over 1,500 prayer cell groups. It was incredibly inspiring—a testimony of step-by-step obedience. She simply followed what God asked her to do, one step at a time, listening for His direction. Over time, it grew into a powerful movement of prayer.
While we were with Joyce, the rest of the team toured the academy—a school serving over 400 students. About 95% of them are not Christians (with Hinduism being the major religion in New Delhi), yet with God’s help, more and more are coming to know Jesus. A portion of the school has been funded through the generosity of the Vineyard Church—what a meaningful investment in a place where the Gospel is being faithfully shared.
We took a short break from ministry activities to visit an open-air market, where the team picked up a few souvenirs as reminders of our time here.
We ended the day with an incredible dinner—hands down the best Indian food I’ve ever had. It was such a privilege to share a meal with Pastor Abraham and Joyce. There is something deeply special about connecting with ministry partners even when they live on the other side of the world.
