Fasting Encouragement All In | Day 3

What if…

What if God really would heal the sick, deliver the oppressed, or set the captive free?
What if God could revive our families, our community, our nation?
What if God actually met with us personally, face to face?

What would we be willing to give to see it happen?

In the Gospel of Luke, there’s a woman who had the faith to give everything. Jesus noticed people bringing their gifts to the temple as an offering to God, and he saw her…

Luke 21:1-4 - “As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.'"

This woman! She gave everything she had left. She held nothing back. And Jesus noticed.

I can hear the pride in Jesus’ voice as he acknowledged her sacrifice. I can sense the honor Jesus gave her as she first honored him.

Just as Jesus noticed this poor widow and her two small copper coins, he doesn’t miss the small details, the everyday sacrifices, of our lives either. That’s the kind of God he is! Scripture even gives God the name El Roi, which means “You are God who see me.” (Genesis 16:13) There is no sacrifice you have made for the sake of the Kingdom of God that he hasn’t promised to repay many times over. That’s what Jesus told the disciples…

Luke 18:28-30 - “Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.”

Peter and the disciples knew Jesus was worth the sacrifice. As did the poor widow. So they went all in, holding nothing back.

How about us? What would we give to see the promises of God on earth as they are in heaven?

I’m holding nothing back. He’s worth everything.

A simple prayer to meditate on: “Jesus, what else can I give you today? You’re worth it.”
