2025 Honduras Mission Trip Day 3

July 18, 2025 | Stephanie Betzer

Hello Vineyard! We just wrapped up a busy day of ministry that some of us just didn’t want to end. We started our day with breakfast, a devotional message from Jaelie and spent some time worshiping the Lord - a perfect warm up for the day. We loaded the bus to head to a village close to Pastor Arquis church to do a food distribution. When we arrived, we had a blast putting on a puppet show for the children that included the message that we have a friend in Jesus. After the puppet show, Byron and Kaylee shared their powerful testimonies with the Hondurans. We followed this by asking the Hondurans if anyone wanted to be prayed for and a large crowd gathered for prayer. Even with the language barrier, I could feel the Holy Spirit moving as we prayed with them for healing, hope, and surrender to the Lord. We prayed with one particular woman who just lost her husband three months ago and we grieved with her and cried tears for comfort. The Holy Spirit was so evident and powerful. To close this time, we distributed toys, candy, and food totes to 35 families from the village. They were so joyful and appreciative for all the items.

My personal favorite part of the day was the home visits. We split into 3 groups to visit 3 homes in the village. They gave us a tour of their home and we sat down to listen their story and ask them questions. Maria (the mom) took great pride in her home and family and it radiated in her beautiful smile. Jorge (the dad) shared with us that he has a fear of the Lord but doesn’t go to church. Josh took initiative to recognize his need for God and invited him to join us for church on Sunday when Josh plans to share his testimony. We are all praying he joins us! Jorge treated us to coconut water from fresh coconuts he climbed and picked from one of their palm trees. We closed our time in prayer with the family, but truly didn’t want our time to end.

Next we loaded the bus to head to Pastor Arquis church. We ate lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon painting the inside and outside of a new building on the property that they want to turn into a kitchen. A few us of worked on more laying of concrete blocks to make a storage area behind the kitchen. The team was spoiled by the ladies of the church and they treated us to an amazing dinner of baleadas. Our wonderful leaders for our trip have been encouraging us to spend time in the word and to seek out the Holy Spirit. Today while reading my bible I found a great verse to sum up the events of our day from first Corinthians 3:7 & 9 “So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. For we are coworkers in God’s service: you are God’s field, God’s building.” God is growing each of us through this ministry and I can’t wait to see what’s in store tomorrow!
