Fasting Encouragement Day 2 | No Turning Back
October 7, 2025 | Abi Hooton
Have you ever seen Geese? They’re in the air, they’re always on the path I walk by the river, they’re crossing the road when I’m on my way to the store, they’re even in the church parking lot. I’m convinced Geese can quite literally go anywhere they want and call that place home.
Matthew 6:26-27
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Jesus tells us in Matthew, look at the birds. They don’t work, they don’t harvest, they don’t save, but God provides for them. “Are you not much more valuable than they?” This verse has hit me, am I not much more valuable than them. How much more does my Heavenly Father care for me, than the birds. The answer is SO MUCH MORE. Why do I spend time on worrying, when the Creator of the world has such a high value for me.
As we’re in middle of this fast. I’m sure thoughts have come up, worries, doubts. But I feel the Lord reminding us, “Are you not much more valuable than they?” How much in this moment the Lord has us. His grip is tight, His presence is close, His voice is clear. Lock eyes, prepare, be expectant for what He will do.
Psalm 84:3-4
“Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.”
I want to dwell in the house of the Lord; I want to ever be praising Him. So that’s what I’ll do today, through the ups and the downs, I will ever be praising Him. Through the discouragement and triumphs, I will ever be praising Him. I hear the Lord saying, “Do you want it? Can you feel it? The preparation is working, come in, be ready. It’s time to dwell in My house.”
Pray:
- “Are you not much more valuable than they?” Remind yourself the value the Lord has placed on you, the value He’s placed on others.
- Father, during the preparation will you use me, will your glory shine through? Will your presence come rest, come fill, come move? We are ready, hungry and expectant for what you’re going to do.
